Teladoc Services Now Available in Idaho

More Idahoans will have access to high-quality, affordable health care via video consults

Lewisville, Texas. (July 1, 2015) – Teladoc, the nation's first and largest telehealth provider, today announced that Idahoans will now have access to the company's high-quality, cost-effective telehealth services. In a move to create increased access to health care services, the Idaho legislature passed the Idaho Telehealth Access Act in April 2015, reestablishing telemedicine access by allowing a physician and patient to connect via a two-way audio and visual interaction. "Teladoc is excited to provide Idahoans with access to high-quality care through the use of audio-video technology," said Jason Gorevic, Teladoc CEO. "Through our network of board-certified, state-licensed physicians, we can meet their health care needs — when and where they need it."

_The Annals of Family Medicine_projects a shortage of 52,000 primary care physicians nationwide by 2025 – and Idaho is no exception. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, Idaho ranks the second to last state in number of primary care physicians per capita, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has designated 41 of Idaho's 44 counties as Health Professional Shortage Areas. "Idahoans should be proud of the state legislators and Idaho Telehealth Council's efforts to support forward-thinking legislation that increases access to affordable health care and cuts costs for the business community," added Gorevic.
