Teladoc to provide free medical consultations to Texans and Oklahomans affected by flooding and severe weather

DALLAS (May 29, 2015) – In response to the tornadoes and flooding pounding Texas and Oklahoma, Teladoc announced it will offer free consultations with its network of physicians to members and non-members in both states who have been affected by the severe weather and are unable to make an in-person visit to a physician. The free service will be available through June 12, 2015. If the weather emergency persists the service will be extended accordingly.

Teladoc provides timely access to high-quality medical consultations with U.S. board-certified, state-licensed physicians who can diagnose and treat many non-emergent medical issues. The consultations are available via phone, secure online video or mobile applications (where permitted) 24 hours a day. Teladoc is not intended for emergency care.

"We see how quickly this severe weather is devastating two states and leaving thousands of people stranded and unable to reach their doctors, and we wanted to help," said Jason Gorevic, Teladoc CEO. "Teladoc can quickly connect those in Texas and Oklahoma who are in need of non-emergency care with a physician who can provide remote high-quality health care. We consider it a privilege to share our services in this time of great need."

To access the free Teladoc consultation, members and non-members in the affected Texas and Oklahoma counties should:

Call 800-341-1522 to request a physician consult
Indicate they have been affected by the storms in Oklahoma or Texas

If a prescription is required following the medical consult, individuals should confirm their pharmacy is open.

For emergency and life-threatening issues, residents should call 911.
