InTouch Health Launches Physician Services, Expanding its Industry-Leading Telehealth Enterprise Network

SANTA BARBARA, CA, August 17, 2016 – InTouch Health, the leading specialty telehealth enterprise network provider, today announced its entry into tele–physician services as an addition to InTouch’s core services portfolio.

InTouch Health’s decision to enter the physician services business comes in response to InTouch Health customer requests for a high-quality, turn-key tele-physician services powered by the InTouch Health telehealth enterprise platform. Providing comprehensive services to its hospital and health system customers is a synergistic extension of the InTouch offering.

Joseph M. DeVivo, Chief Executive Officer of InTouch Health, stated, “I’m very excited to announce the launch of our physician services organization (PSO), InTouch Physician Services, establishing a national, multi-specialty presence under the InTouch Health brand.  Our goal is to provide timely, high-quality, cost effective specialty care using InTouch Health’s telehealth enterprise network. We will initially focus on providing emergent neurology, psychiatry and intensive care physician services to our health system customers. Our physicians are experienced telehealth providers from leading private and academic medical centers.  This effort addresses the physician shortage in these subspecialties that our customers are facing.”

InTouch Health also announces the hiring of Lee A. Wood as the General Manager and Executive Vice President of the InTouch Physician Services division. In this role he will lead the building and scaling of this operation, by offering multi-specialty physician services to InTouch’s Telehealth Network customers of more than 1,500 hospital locations.

Mr. Wood brings more than 20 years of experience in physician services management, finance, and business development where he spent the past decade in leadership roles with MEDNAX (NYSE: MD). “I’m very pleased to be leading this opportunity to significantly improve our healthcare delivery system and bring added value to the InTouch Health services portfolio,” stated Mr. Wood.  “As part of launching our InTouch Physicians Services division, I’m thrilled to announce the acquisition of AcuteCare Telemedicine (ACT)”.

ACT was founded in 2009 by four highly experienced tele-neurologists:  Matthews W. Gwynn, M.D., Lisa H. Johnston, M.D., James M. Kiely, M.D., Ph.D. and Keith A. Sanders, M.D.  ACT has grown to provide tele-neurology services in eight states and multiple healthcare systems, and is known as a leading practice-based provider of telemedicine services for hospitals seeking around-the-clock stroke and urgent neurological care. The acquisition of ACT is InTouch Health’s significant step in the expansion into physician services.

Dr. Matthews W. Gwynn, CEO, AcuteCare Telemedicine stated, “We are excited to join InTouch Health in expanding our collective expertise and services into many more healthcare systems throughout the United States that are in need of neurological services. It’s a natural union of physicians and technology that will benefit patients, and lower costs for healthcare delivery.  Combining our clinical expertise with InTouch’s world-class telehealth platform offers uniquely high quality and scalable healthcare delivery.”

InTouch Health’s leading telehealth enterprise network combined with the high quality physicians from ACT means patients who live in areas without direct access to on-site neurologists can receive the right care, at the right time through telehealth consultations.  Hospitals can now provide this sub-specialty care in areas where physician access or cost might otherwise be a barrier.
